Prepare for the 2026 Digital Adaptive SHSAT With Any Plan Below!
Get the structure, practice, and expert guidance students need for the new adaptive format.
The SHSAT is changing in 2026.
The next SHSAT will be digital, computer-adaptive, and 3 hours long, with 50 ELA questions and 50 Math questions. The content standards remain the same, but the testing experience changes: questions may get harder or easier based on a student’s answers.
Because the test adapts, accuracy, careful reading, pacing, and avoiding careless mistakes matter even more than before.
| 2025 SHSAT | 2026 SHSAT |
|---|---|
| 114 questions: 57 ELA, 57 Math | 100 questions: 50 ELA, 50 Math |
| Digital test on a computer | Digital adaptive test |
| Everyone received the same questions | Questions can change based on student answers |
| Students could move around within sections more freely | Students should expect a more one-way testing experience |
| Technology-enhanced question types were introduced | Adaptive testing becomes the major new feature |

Our Story
Clocking in at 3 hours, the SHSAT® is likely the longest exam an eighth grader has ever taken. Beginning with the 2026 administration, the SHSAT is expected to be digital and computer-adaptive, with 50 ELA questions and 50 Math questions. Because thousands of students take the test each year and only a limited number receive offers to the testing specialized high schools, the exam is difficult by design.
Starting with a diagnostic test, we create a personalized plan for each student that includes test-taking strategies, targeted skill development, adaptive-format practice, and a study plan for the time outside tutoring sessions. For many students, the most difficult parts of the exam are the reading comprehension and grammar questions in the English section, along with the time pressure of the Math section — best tackled through strategy and focused practice drills.
From learning style, to skillset, to focus and attention, our tutors — many of whom are expert test-takers themselves — help students close knowledge gaps and build the confidence needed to overcome testing anxiety often associated with the SHSAT.
Every year, over 80% of our SHSAT students report receiving an offer from a specialized high school, compared to the general 18% acceptance rate.
